August 30, 2010 - Reporting from Cleveland, Ohio

Since my last report we have traveled from St. Ignace, Michigan to Cleveland, Ohio, adding three more states to the list of states visited. Between Michigan and Ohio, there were two days in Indiana.

We had a real boon in Monroeville, Indiana. It looked as though there would be no place - I mean no place for us to stay. Then, Lisa went into the Monroeville Library and was chatting with the librarian about our journey, mentioned the bicycling and BINGO! Judy, says...we have a place for you. Turns out they make the community park facilities available to cross country cyclists. Yahoo! It was a nice facility, shower and laundry - Imagine that.

Here in Cleveland we've been taking a break. Lisa and Bobby found a Bed and Breakfast near downtown Cleveland. Steve and I stayed with Lucy. Trixie is at the Paws on the Lake Resort and Spa. Last night after spending seven and a half hours at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2 thumbs up), then having a nice dinner at La Strada, in downtown Cleveland, we stayed at the Marriott...parking lot that is. No RV parks in Cleveland, so we boondocked in there. We were looking for a WalMart, but the one we found was not to our liking and we headed for higher ground.

Tomorrow Steve gets his bike back from the bike shop (needed repairs), we pick up Trixie and reconnect with Bobby and Lisa - Trixie too. Next stop: Geneva on the Lake, Ohio.

I'm short on photos - tired of taking scenery shots, but here are a few others I hope you'll enjoy.

May you all be well and enjoying life - moment by moment. Big Hugs to everyone.

August 17, 2010 - Reporting from St. Ignace, MI

The bike route goes to St. Ignace, where riders take a ferry to Mackinac Island, and then a ferry to Mackinac City. We decided to take a two day respite in St. Ignace. Yesterday after we arrived in St. Ignace, Bobby and Lisa headed over to the island while Steve and I stayed at our campsite at the TIKI RV Campground. We set up the tent, got caught up on laundry then headed to downtown St. Ignace for dinner. Today we got up early and took the ferry over to the island. The attractions were interesting, old buildings, forts, and horse drawn carts and buggies (no motorized vehicles allowed on the island). Oh - I almost forgot zillions of tourists.

Miner's Castle - Munising, MI

We were at a little roadside coffee shop in Manistique, MI and the gal serving coffee told Bobby and Lisa it would be a shame to leave without seeing Lake superior - since we were so close. So, yesterday, after the guys finished their ride we took an hour's jaunt up to Munising and saw Lake Superior.  Glad we did!

August 12, 2010 - Reporting from Crystal Falls, MI

Finished up Minnesota, traveled through Wisconsin and crossed into Michigan today. Reporting from the Generations Bar and Grill. One of the few WiFi spots in Crystal Falls.  It's exciting to be in Michigan. For Bobby, Steve and I, it will be our first time to see the Great Lakes. Hope everyone is having a happy now. Stay well. Hugs, J.

August 7, 2010 - Reporting from St. Paul, MN

2010 Uptown Art Fair

Aloha All,

The guys have taken a few days off from riding and Steve and I took a side trip into St. Paul. Serendipitously, our neighbors from Hawaii, Kim, Mike, and Katie are here too. St. Paul is Kim's home town and yesterday she guided us on a great tour of the Twin Cities, with Mike as our driver we had a great time seeing the sites. On the itinerary was the 2010 Uptown Art Fair. An annual event that draws artists from across the U.S. It was fabulous.

Today we reunite with Bobby and Lisa and tomorrow we're back on the road again...

The Mississippi - Kim's Backyard
More pics later...the WiFi here at the Best Western in incredibly slow.

By the way...the guys have ridden 3002 miles to date. There's about 2500 more to go.

Happy Days to All,
J.

Scheels Sporting Goods - Has it All!

It's been a long time between WiFi stops. Our new tent was waiting for us at Lisa's Brother's place. So happy to have our tent again we've decided to do the tent full-time and Bobby and Lisa will sleep in Lucy full time. Works well for all of us as Bobby heads out earlier than Steve and it's more convenient for him to have the amenities of Lucy in the morning.

We're two days away from Stillwater, Mn. From there we take a side trip to St. Paul and a visit with our Hawaii neighbors, Kim and Mike. Fun to connect with your neighbors so far from home.

We've been so many places since my last posting - Below are some photos taken along the way.
